No single account can explain the why and how of historical trends and events. That central truth is reflected in the diversity of St. Lawrence's history faculty and their curriculum. Each of St. Lawrence's historians--social, intellectual, American, European, African and Asian--offers a distinct perspective on the past and on a particular part of the world, and on their connections. They are united in the belief that the history professor's task is primarily a teaching one.
